Opera@Augustana will present this holiday opera that has delighted children and families for over sixty years, and tells the poignant tale of a poor boy and his widowed mother whose lives are changed forever by the unexpected arrival of three kings searching for the Christ child.
Christmas at Augustana
This year, both performances will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in Centennial Hall, 3703 7th Ave.
Three hundred student musicians will take the stage, featuring performances by the Augustana Brass Ensemble, Ascension Ringers, Augustana Symphony Orchestra, Augustana Choir, Augustana Concert Chorale and Jenny Lind Vocal Ensemble.
For those attending the 7 p.m. performance of Christmas at Augustana: Due to a large number of patrons expected for the performance and a men's basketball game, a shuttle service will run from the vacant lot located directly east of the football stadium at 5th Avenue and 39th Street to Centennial Hall. The shuttle will be available 6-7:15 p.m. and 8-9:30 p.m.

The filming of the 2 p.m. performance will be broadcast in the Quad Cities area on Christmas Eve at 9:30 a.m. on channel 8.3, on Christmas Day at 11:30 a.m. on channel 8 and available online at www.WQAD.com.
A Christmas Messiah, by George Frideric Handel
The 90-minute performance in Centennial Hall, 3703 7th Ave., will focus on the Christmas story, and there will be no intermission. A limited number of free tickets is available for junior and senior high students and their families, thanks to support from the Meredith Foundation.

Lessons and Carols
Thursday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. in Ascension Chapel, 820 38th St.
Enjoy a beautiful spiritual presentation of lessons and carols within the intimate setting of Ascension Chapel. Augustana Chamber Singers, Ascension Ringers and Campus Ministries present the story of Christ's birth in readings and song. Free and open to the public.
