Exhibition Tour of Art Museum: Relating Music and Visual Art through the AGES
Saturday, January 12, 1:30-2:45 p.m.
An informal discussion of the current exhibition among Augustana College faculty will begin with an introduction by Dr. Catherine Goebel, Paul A. Anderson Chair in the Arts and professor and chair, Department of Art History (see above listing). Having also taught from past AGES exhibitions, Dr. Deborah Dakin will share insights on historical relationships. She is principal violist for the Quad City Symphony Orchestra and adjunct assistant professor of music, who plays with the chamber ensemble Tikkun. Joining the discussion will be Dr. Frederick Jaeschke, who designed a music CD inspired by and orchestrated to musically parallel the art historical approach and illustrations of the interdisciplinary AGES book. Dr. Jaeschke is an associate professor of music, who teaches music education courses, supervises student teachers, and directs the Augustana College Concert Band. A contributor to the AGES book, Dr. Danial Culver, will speak to his essay. Dr. Culver is Henry Veld Professor of Music, music director of the Augustana Symphony Orchestra, and co-chair, Department of Music. This collaborative program will round out with the option of enhanced listening to music selections.
