Greetings from Augustana!

The last week of school is always an exciting time on campus. It is a flurry of activity as students complete finals and prepare to leave campus. At the same time, parents of seniors arrive for graduation preparations, reunion class alumni arrive eager to see former classmates, and the 36-member Board of Directors for our Alumni Association arrives for their semi-annual meeting.

The Alumni Board fills the very important role of assisting and advising the college in ways to serve and connect alumni and students. Board members make decisions to honor alumni for their service and achievement and recommend distribution of alumni association awards for students to honor their academic achievement and research undertakings. They work with admissions staff to plan and implement "On to Augie" and "Share the Experience" gatherings and identify prospective students. They assist the Career Center and Center for Vocational Reflection in finding better ways to promote AlumNet, secure alumni contacts for departments and programs, and identify internship and employment opportunities. They work with the Student Alumni Council to plan ways to foster connections between 2,500 students and the 23,000-member alumni body. These are extremely worthwhile discussions and we are grateful for board members' service.

We invite your involvement with the Alumni Board. You can find more information about the board's involvement on the website or you can contact me. We hope that you will enjoy reading these timely updates about our alma mater.

With warmest regards,

Sue Fleischman '79 Rector
Assistant Vice President for Development
