Dan and Becky Asleson:
'Our calling as alumni and friends'
The Aslesons: Becky, Dan and their daughter Cates.
As an Augustana student, I never really thought about who paid for the library, the residence halls or the classrooms. I took for granted the (then) new Olin Center, Science Building and all of the other facilities on campus as something that happened in the past. It’s easy to write off the past as irrelevant, especially for an 18-year-old.
Now we’ve collectively arrived at a point where we can impact the future of Augustana. And while I wasn’t too concerned during my student days with what happened in the past, I’m definitely interested in the future.
Becky and I chose to support Authentically Augustana: A Call to Action because we believe a liberal arts education provides a foundation for lifelong learning that extends beyond the classroom and into all areas of our life. The classes I took 10 years ago molded the perspectives I continue to use today at work, at home and even as we begin the journey of raising our daughter (Introduction to Psychology will come in handy, no doubt).
Our calling as alumni and friends of Augustana is to ensure that the future of Augustana is as bright as the past, so the Augustana students of my daughter’s generation can take for granted the student center, Swanson Commons, Evald Hall and the other capital projects of Authentically Augustana: A Call to Action.
