A renewed appreciation for parents
Dear alumni and friends,
Our name is changing: We are now the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, reflecting the creation of a new parents program at Augustana!
Its mission is to establish and maintain meaningful, lifelong relationships with parents of alumni and current students. We are providing more direct communication with parents, hosting parent-centered events and have created a parents council.
During this process, I've been reflecting on the role of parents, the support they offer and the sacrifices they make. Although it will be some years before I am the mother of a college student (my children are 3 and 6), I have already met some great role models among our parents.
Watch for news about our parents council in the coming weeks, and please let me know if you have suggestions for us.
May you have a blessed Thanksgiving,
Sincerely, Kelly Read '02 Noack Director of Alumni and Parent Relations

Students shine at interfaith gathering
With only a few hours' notice, Hiba Ansari and Maggie Hayes were plucked out of 100 or so students at a prestigious White House interfaith conference and asked to say a few words on stage.
They did, and so well that faculty advisor Sarah Skrainka was inundated afterward by people saying things like, "Your students were the high point of the conference" and "You're really doing something right at Augustana." Read more
