High School Student Application Procedure

As you begin the application process at Augustana, here are some general guidelines for high school students:

  • We recommend applying the summer prior to your senior year.
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis beginning in early November.
  • Though there is no application deadline, applicants prior to February 1 receive priority consideration.
  • Admitted students who intend to enroll at Augustana must submit a $350 non-refundable deposit by May 1 in order to reserve their place in the incoming class.

Application requirements for high school students:

If you are applying as a first-year student, your application to Augustana College will be complete once you submit the following items to the Office of Admissions.

  1. An application.

  2. School report and recommendations. Please take the Common Application school report or the Augustana Application school report to your guidance office for completion. You may take the Common Application teacher evaluation or the teacher form provided through the Augustana Application webpage to your teacher for completion. Teachers can instead or additionally write a free form letter on your behalf. Return the secondary school report and one letter of recommendation from a teacher to the Augustana College Office of Admissions.

  3. Official high school transcripts. Submit your official high school transcript to the Augustana College Office of Admissions. It should include a cumulative GPA and rank in class (if available).

  4. Standardized test scores. All applicants may submit scores from either the ACT or SAT. (Augustana College does not prefer one test over the other, and will consider the highest composite score.) We will accept the scores as they appear on your official high school transcript; otherwise, the ACT or SAT testing organization can send your scores directly to Augustana. Students can also elect to apply test-optional, without submitting their standardized test scores. To do so, students must complete the test optional process.

  5. Writing sample. All applicants must submit examples of their writing. See the Common Application or Augustana's writing sample suggestions for details.

  6. Admissions Interview (recommended, but optional). The admissions interview is highly recommended for all prospective students as it will provide an opportunity for you to discuss your curriculum and learning experience, while we learn about your passions and interests. Typically students who interview are admitted at a rate of 20% higher than those who do not.
