Winter Symposium Day volunteer opportunities

Students are needed to help at the following locations on Symposium Day, Monday, Jan. 20. In order to provide accurate counts, students must register for these volunteer opportunities in advance. To sign up, visit the Volunteer Sign-Up table near the Brew by the Slough (Fourth floor CSL), 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 16 and Thursday, Jan. 16.

Morning volunteers

Registered volunteers will meet at the Ken Anderson Academic All-American Club at Lindberg Stadium for check-in and orientation at 10 a.m. Volunteers will depart by 10:15.

These groups will arrive at their sites at 10:30 and leave at 12:30 p.m. Groups will return to the stadium for a reflection and snacks at approximately 12:45.

Locations and tasks

River Bend Foodbank: 18-20 students.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center: 15 students (break down tables and chairs, set up for community lunch).

Friendship Manor: 10 students (activities with nursing home residents).

Afternoon volunteers

Registered volunteers will meet at the Ken Anderson Academic All-American Club at Lindberg Stadium at noon for check-in and orientation, leaving at 12:15 p.m. to be at sites at 12:30. Groups will leave sites at 2:30 and return to stadium for reflection at approximately 2:45.

Locations and tasks

The Project of the Quad Cities: 8-10 students (cleaning up and organizing following previous night's dinner).

Casa Guanajuato: 15 students (put together craft baskets for senior citizens and school supplies kits for low-income students).

The Arc: 18 students (help disabled residents with daily activities — student must provide own transportation).
