Actor's Audition 101

Jeff Coussens

Jeff Coussens is the chair of the Department of Theatre Arts at Augustana College. He earned his M.F.A. in acting from Indiana University and taught at the School of Drama, University of Oklahoma for several years prior to joining the Augustana faculty. During his 30-year academic career, Jeff has directed more than 50 stage productions and acted in more than 30 roles. Jeff has also performed voice-over narration and acting in commercials, educational films and web video.

Program dates: June 22-25, 2014

Program cost: $450

Includes lodging, all meals and any field trips. Students arrive on campus Sunday, June 22 and depart Wednesday, June 25.

Course description

For veteran high school thespians and aspiring actors just getting started, this course will help students understand the expectations of the audition process and learn techniques to improve performance. At the end of this intensive workshop experience, students will be ready to perform professional quality auditions that could help land leading roles and gain entrance into college theatre programs.

Students who complete this class will automatically be considered for Theatre Scholarship Awards at Augustana.
