Majors/Minors

Students have found a Philosophy major or minor to be good preparation for careers in law, journalism, the ministry, and academics. Recent graduates have pursued further studies at such institutions as Yale Law School, Harvard Law School, New York University Law School, the University of Chicago Law School, the University of Michigan Law School, Notre Dame University Law School, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Indiana University, the University of Texas-Austin, Arizona State University and Princeton Theological Seminary.

Augustana majors have entered Philosophy graduate programs at the New School (New York), the University of Iowa, the City University of New York, and Temple University.

MAJOR IN PHILOSOPHY 27 credits, including 110 or 310, 240, 242, 340 and 440 (Seminar). Students proposing to do graduate work in Philosophy are advised to take 310, 342, and 450 (Thesis).

MINOR IN PHILOSOPHY 21 credits, including 110 or 310, 240, 242, and at least 6 credits from the 300 or 400 level.
