DANIEL CULVER

Daniel Culver is Henry Veld Professor of Music at Augustana College, Conductor of the Augustana College Symphony Orchestra and Co-chair of the department of music. In addition, he was the Conductor and Music Director of the Quad-City Youth Symphony Orchestra for a number of years.

Culver received his undergraduate degree from Cornell College where he was graduated Magna Cum Laude. He studied with John Nelson as a Martha Baird Rockefeller conducting fellow at the Aspen Music School. He received his D.M.A. from the University of Iowa in Orchestral Conducting where he was an assistant to James Dixon. He has also worked with Robert Shaw, William Hibbard, and Otto Werner Mueller.

Culver has guest conducted at the Oxford International Music Festival in Oxford, England, at the Bay View Music Festival in Michigan, Lake Placid Sinfonietta in New York, Ballet Quad Cities, and at All-States and other festivals in the United States and Europe.

Dr. Culver teaches conducting, orchestral literature, history and theory at Augustana College. Every three years Culver leads a group of some thirty students to Vienna, Austria for a three-month study in history, literature and music of Vienna.
