Alpha Kappa Delta
Alpha Kappa Delta is the International Sociology Honor Society. Founded in 1920 at the University of Southern California by the famous sociologist Emory Bogardus, the purpose of the society is "to promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition." Augustana's chapter of AKD, which was chartered in 1997, is Omicron of Illinois.
Each year the department inducts students who have proven to be outstanding in the classroom.
