Katie's pre-trip thoughts
Internship: Finance internship at BIS Shrapnel: Australia's leading provider of industry research, analysis, and forecasting.
Why are you participating in the Augustana in Australia program? I am participating in this program because I have wanted to study abroad in Australia since my first year at Augustana. The international internship will provide me with a great experience and help to prepare me for my future career.
What value do you hope to add back to the internship site? I hope to apply myself to the task I am given with the knowledge I have from finance, economics, and accounting classes that I have completed.
What do you hope to learn on your internship? I hope to gain a better understanding of the economy and learn about what factors are considered for forecasting the different industries. I hope to learn if this is a field that I want to go into after graduation.
Where do you plan to travel during your term "down under"? I plan to travel throughout Australia and engage myself in their culture and festivals. I will also travel to New Zealand.
What do you anticipate to be the highlight of your experience "down under"? The highlight of my experience will be working in a different country and with people of a different culture. I also look forward to Bungee jumping and knowing that this is where I will be spending my last five weeks of college! I am graduating at the end of this term!
