This year's class act in Accounting

The class of 2009 included 42 students graduating with a major or minor in accounting.

Jacob Bobbitt was named as the Outstanding Senior. Jacob double-majored in accounting and business administration. After graduation he took a full-time cost accounting position at McLaughlin Body Company in Moline, Illinois. McLaughlin is a manufacturing company that specializes in cabs for several different industries. Jacob also will also be working towards his master's degree in accounting at St. Ambrose University.

At Augustana, Jacob focused a lot of time and energy towards improving the dining services by working as a student supervisor, student scheduler and member of the Farm 2 Fork committee, a group that helps implement environmentally friendly solutions within Augustana's dining services.He also handled the budget for the first Eco House (Local Culture House 1) on campus. The learning community course taught by Dr. Mahaffey in geography and Dr. Peters in English worked on renovating a pre-existing house near Augustana using "green" standards.Jacobalso was an active member of the Augustana Accounting Association and Vice President of the association during his senior year.

Jacqueline Fox, Jared Hurlbut and Emily Kulicke were named Students of Distinction.

Jackie will be joining the firm of Seldon Fox in Oakbrook, Illinois and pursuing her master's degree at Northern Illinois University.

Emily graduated after the winter term and has begun her career at Group O, Inc. in Milan, Illinois.

Jared accepted a position with John Deere in Moline.
