Lisa Seidlitz
      Lisa Seidlitz received her Ph.D. in Germanic Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. Her dissertation dealt with functions of codeswitching, or language alternation, in foreign language classes. She earned her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Lisa’s academic interests include linguistics, sociolinguistics, language acquisition and language teaching. When not teaching, she enjoys baking desserts, cooking Indian and Thai dishes, dancing, hearing music, watching independent films, and traveling.

      Kim Vivian is Professor of German and chair of the German Department. He did graduate work at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received his Ph.D. in German literature. During that time he studied for two years at the Georg-August Universität in Göttingen. He has directed study programs in Munich, Passau, and Vienna. His main interests in German literature are the Middle Ages and Goethezeit. Over the years he has published articles on a range of subjects from Hartmann von Aue to Goethe and Herder. His books include: A Concise History of German Literature; An Anthology of German Literature; Life of the Jura Fathers; and Arthurian Romances, Tales, and Lyric Poetry. The Complete Works of Hartmann von Aue. His most recent book is entitled The Life of Saint Servatius: A Dual-language Edition of The Middle Dutch Legend of Saint Servatius by Heinrich von Veldeke and The Anonymous Upper German Life of Saint Servatius . His activities away from the College include gardening and travelling in Europe.
