| A special summer school course for first-year
students… Physical Geology in the Rocky Mountains August 1-17, 2009. First class meeting: Saturday, August 1, 12:00 p.m. noon. Swenson Hall of Geosciences, Fryxell Geology Museum Geology Professors and Program Co-Directors: Dr. Jeffrey Strasser and Dr. Michael Wolf GEOL105[PN,I] Introductory Physical Geology in the Rocky Mountains / 3 credits We are offering a rigorous 2-½ -week-long fieldtrip course to Wyoming and South Dakota. GEOL105 provides an introduction to earth materials and processes. The course begins with one day of preliminary study on campus (August 1), followed by over two weeks of field study. The first week of fieldwork will include geologic investigations of the Badlands and Black Hills of South Dakota, and Devil’s Tower and the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming. The second week of fieldwork will be based out of a field station in the Absaroka Mountains (central Rocky Mountains of Wyoming) followed by work in the Wind River Canyon (Owl Creek Mountains), before returning to campus. Additional post-trip study ends on August 17. GEOL105 carries I and PN suffixes, thus partially fulfilling the general education graduation requirements. The program is limited to 16 students and is targeted toward newly enrolled students; therefore, priority is given to incoming first-year Augustana students, on a first-come, first-served basis. New student registration for GEOL105 requires a $400 non-refundable (if accepted) deposit by May (sent along with application). Payment-in-full (the remaining $800) must be made by the July billing date. As space is limited, please return the lower portion of this form with your
$400 non-refundable deposit as soon as possible after deciding to
