The French department collaborates with the education department in offering the teaching major in French (33 credits) for students preparing for a career in secondary teaching.
Every two years, the department offers the French Summer Program, in which students may earn 6 credits for participating in a program comprised of 4 weeks intensive French language study at a French University and 2 weeks travel in France. Other opportunities to gain experience in a French-speaking country include Augustana's internship program, semester and junior year abroad programs and the Augustana Fall Term Abroad.
The department also sponsors the French Club, a student-run organization which arranges cultural programs and social activities throughout the year.
This year the French Club is putting on a play called Les Mouches by Jean-Paul Sartre. Check out the site here!
