The Faculty

Virginia Johnson, Reading and Writing Center, Director
B.S. Moorhead State; M.S., M.A. Oregon

I have held the position of Director of Reading/Writing Center at Augustana College since 1994, and also currently teach two first-year courses (College Writing and College Reading) in the English department as well as two tutoring Theory and Practice courses for our Center's peer tutors. I have undergraduate degrees in English and German from Moorhead State University, Minnesota and an M.S. in Educational Administration and an M.A. in English from the University of Oregon. In 1978 I was a summer fellow in the Prairie Writing Project, a first generation offshoot of the Bay Area Writing Project. I have taught composition for students attending high school, university, community college, and now a small liberal arts college. I am married to Donald Peterson, a retired professor of education, and while I have moved back and forth across the Rockies several times since I left my family home in California, I enjoy living in the center of the country along the Mississippi. The book I would recommend to all readers is Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning.
