The Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education at the University of Delaware is hosting a symposium on pedagogies of engagement January 18-20, 2006. The symposium has been designed with both novices and experienced practioners in mind. "Advanced" PBL sessions on the afternoons of January 18 and 20 complement the introductory track that will be concurrent.
We are bringing together experts in student engagement and assessment of learning, invited to present on a wide range of topics. Plenary sessions include "Writing for Student Engagement," "Engaging Students: Influence on Student Learning," and "Engagement through Collaboration and Assessment." Participants invited from off-campus include Paul Anderson (Miami University), Edward Deckard (North Dakota State University), and Philip Cottell (Miami University). In addition, UD faculty members from the College of Business and Economics, Guido Geerts, Winnie Scott, and Mark Serva, will present a plenary session on "Engaging Students through Emerging Technologies."
