A Message from Academic Affairs

It may be common to wonder what any administrative office really does, but explaining to people what institutional research is seems to be particularly challenging.  The broad mission of institutional research is to advance the educational mission of the college by providing data and analysis in support of planning and policy decisions. The IR Office publishes a series of data books relating to college operations, maintains a planned survey program of students, faculty, and alumni, administers the Student Rating of Instruction program, and conducts research and analysis projects as needed. Modeling and projecting enrollments, investigating retention issues, participating in efforts to assess student achievement, monitoring the characteristics of our entering students, reporting faculty salary data to the AAUP, and doing comparative analysis of Augustana data in comparison to peer institutions would be examples of typical projects.

For more information and to see the many institutional research reports available on the IR web site, please click here.  From the main CampusNet page, the IR site can be found by clicking on “Offices” and then “Institutional Research”.
