Database increases full-text, peer-reviewed titles
EBSCO's Academic Search Elite, the library's largest aggregated periodicals database, was recently upgraded to the Premier version. This increased the number of full-text journals provided from 2,053 to 4,515. Of these, 3610 are peer-reviewed titles. For the past six years, Academic Search Elite has been provided by funding from the State of Illinois to all Illinois academic libraries without direct cost to the libraries. The recent upgrade is funded by the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries of Illinois (CARLI), a new organization formed by the merger of three long-standing Illinois academic library consortia. Carla Tracy is a member of the founding Board of Directors of CARLI.
Reception to dedicate art collection
You are invited to attend the dedication of the Olson-Brandelle North American Indian Art Collection on Thursday, October 20, at 4:00 p.m. at the Thomas Tredway library. Ceramic artist Richard Zane Smith of the Wyandot Nation of Kansas will be our guest at the reception. Mr. Smith is also presenting Thursday morning's convocation ("De Tawakontah," Wyandot for "The Beginning") and a pottery demonstration in the Studio Art building at 1:30 p.m.
Following the library reception, Dr. Ellen Hay's SP301 Performance Studies students will provide campus tours of the Collection.
