Thursday, September 6 10:30 a.m. Convocation Mark Schwiebert Centennial Hall Making the Most of Your Education at Augustana. Mark Schwiebert is Mayor of Rock Island and an Augustana alumnus. He will talk about his educational journey, how he ended up dedicating his career to public service and specifically how Augustana prepares students to lead and serve in today's society.
Friday, September 7 Approximately 5 to 7 p.m. Potluck Picnic by the Slough Welcoming Our New Faculty Tredway Library Lawn All faculty are invited to bring families to the potluck picnic. Please bring a salad, vegetable or fruit dish to share. The College will provide the drinks, main course and dessert. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Mike and Amy Finders Duo. (Rain location Ensemble room, Bergendoff)
Saturday, September 8 8:00 p.m. CUBOM Major Concert Centennial Hall LUCKY BOYS CONFUSION with special guests MINUS SIX Lucky Boys Confusion, a five-piece ska-punk outfit from Chicago , formed in 1997, draws their musical inspiration from punk, rap and reggae to create an infectious ska-punk sound that combines Latin melodies with Beastie Boys-influenced rap. Having recently released their EP How to Get Out Alive , the group has developed a loyal underground following. Tickets are $12 for the general public and are available from the Augustana Ticket Office, room 64 in Bergendoff Hall, or by phone at x7236.
