Augustana College Celebrates Constitution Day

In commemorating Constitution Day, Augustana College will host a mock Supreme Court hearing on the subject of affirmative action in higher education. All are invited and encouraged to attend. Find out more.

Justin Betzelberger - '03, graduated with a Biology major and a Spanish minor and is now teaching junior high science in south-central Los Angeles through Teach for America . Amy (Jegerski) Bovi - '98, is an ethicist for the American Medical Association. She graduated from Augustana with majors in Religion and Philosophy. Joe Bovi - '98 graduated with a biology major, is a radiologist specializing in cancer patients. He has a wide array of interesting community and service activities that supplement his career. Melinda Finkral - '00 received a double major in Business and Asian Studies at Augustana. After graduation she taught for two years on the JET program, worked for the Japan Consulate in Chicago, and now works for the Polsky law firm in Chicago. Our final panelist, Mark Strobbe, graduated from Augustana with a degree in Geography and Environmental Studies in 1998. He served in Peace Corps in Ecuador as an agriculture and small business extension worker, focusing on sustainable farming practices. Strobbe completed his graduate degree in geography from Western Illinois Univeristy as part of its Peace Corps Fellows program. Through this program, he served as the Executive Director of the Northwest Il AG Coalition, a grassroots organization working to organize agricultural interests for improved farm income and way of life. Our alumni panel will talk about their involvement at Augustana with co- and extracurricular activities as well as volunteer, internship, and international experiences and how these experiences have shaped their lives.
