Augustana Center for Teaching and Learning

Augustana Center for Teaching and Learning

The primary goal of the Augustana Center for Teaching and Learning is to assist all of us in improving our teaching craft by providing resources on teaching pedagogies and student learning; through workshops; faculty interest groups; on-line and library resources; mentoring and individual consultations. Given that many of us have had little or no training in teaching pedagogy during our graduate studies, it is important that support and resources are available to support teaching and learning on our campus. Through the programming and resources of the Center, we hope to cultivate an environment on campus where we are eager to talk about teaching and learning, are willing to carefully examine our teaching effectiveness, and to support the work of our colleagues. One of the new programs for this year will be the formation of Faculty Classroom Observations Groups . The program will consist of regular group meetings and individual observations for each of the members of that group. A complete description of this program will be sent to all faculty in a separate email. Those interested in participating will receive guidelines for signing up.

I look forward to working with all of you, and invite you to utilize the resources of the Augustana Center for Teaching and Learning. Programming information for the 2008-2009 academic year will be coming soon.
