The International Education Task Force and Advisory Committee
The International Education Task Force and Advisory Committee spent much of this year completing a report on international programs at the college. As a result of that report, many new international programs and initiatives are moving forward to support the Strategic Plan of the college. We have created new international student exchange programs with Lingnan University in Hong Kong, Regensberg University and Eichstatt University in Germany; we have formalized an affiliation for summer study in Salamanca for Spanish language study and are pursuing a new affiliation with the Center for Cross-Cultural Studies in Sevilla, Spain. Dan Lee is piloting our first 20/20 program this spring that might prove to be a model for other programs in the future. Next year, the college will have four Augustana study abroad programs; Latin American Fall Term, winter term Internship Program in Sydney, Australia; and two spring term programs in Ireland and India.
We have also established an Office of International Programs that will be housed in Olin next year. Jane Tiedge has been appointed Associate Director of that office and will assist the International Study Committee, coordinate international student orientation and programs, as well as assisting with other study abroad initiatives with Mike Green. In addition, the college will be searching for a Director of International Programs to coordinate our growing programs.
