Dr. Jon Hurty, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities
This presentation will explore Renaissance partbooks—what they are, how they were used, how editors have chosen to create the modern scores on which they are based, and what kinds of alternatives might make for more accurate modern versions. Join Dr. Hurty for an exploration of the partbook and its development into the style of musical score that is more prevalent today. Members of the Augustana Chamber Singers will be “guest artists,” demonstrating some of the aspects of partbooks through performance. Refreshments and conversation will begin at 3:30 .
