A grading rubric is a protocol for grading the lists, the critical components, a scale for each component and the weighting for each component. The session will focus on a rationale for using grading rubrics, define the important components of a grading rubric, and provide concrete examples of grading rubrics from different disciplines.

Currently on the faculty of the Iowa Writers Workshop, fiction writer, Elizabeth McCracken, will read from new work. She has published a book of short stories, Here's Your Hat , What's Your Hurry , two novels, The Giant's House and Niagara Falls All Over Again (portion on Moodle under “Library”), and has a memoir coming out next year. McCracken brings to life such wacky and endearing characters as giant boys, funny comics, and tattoo artists.
