Robert Bly Book Discussion
Renowned poet and critic Robert Bly is the Quad City Arts Super Author for 2006. He will be in residence in the Quad Cities April 5-8, and on the Augustana campus the evening of April 8.
To prepare for this special visit by Bly to our community, Dr. Larry McCallum, professor of psychology, will lead a discussion of The Sibling Society, Bly's 1996 book that examines mid-life baby boomers and finds them adrift without traditional “parents” and other mentors. Bly argues that boomers conduct themselves like jealous siblings, locked in competitiveness and irresponsibility, and have children who don’t want to grow up.
The book discussion will take place Thursday, March 30, at 4:00 p.m. at Tredway Library, 2nd floor south. Snacks provided! To reserve a place in the discussion group and obtain a copy of the book, sign up at the library’s Circulation desk on 2nd floor.
