Week Seven Seminar is an informal discussion planned by and for faculty. Because this term's Seminar falls within International Week, our discussion will center around a reading that reveals the culture shock students can feel studying in a country/culture not their own. The article is a chapter in a memoir From the Land of Green Ghosts by Pascal Khoo Thwe, in which Khoo Thwe writes about the struggle he faced in moving from Burma to the academic halls of Cambridge University. Fascinating and revealing. The reading is available on the library homepage. Look for "Week Seven Seminar" under " Resources for Faculty" Our new Director of International Programs, Kim Tunnicliff, will be joining us for refreshments and the discussion.

Sometimes a young band comes along-perhaps they haven't even been a band that long-and they just have it. Augustana, a brand-new four piece, are one of those bands. Augustana's singer and guitarist believed their music had something compelling to say, and they knew that it wouldn't reach fruition in an Illinois college town.

So it was off to San Diego , where they formalized their foursome and honed an emotional kind of guitar rock that boasts the grandeur of U2 and the candor of Coldplay. Don't miss special guest Vega4! Their music has been featured on the popular hit drama "Grey's Anatomy."

Tickets are $8 for Augustana students, $10 for Augustana Faculty /Staff and the general public and can be purchased at the Augustana College Ticket office by calling 309-794-7306. Tickets are selling fast, so advance purchase is recommended.
