Sharon Varallo has sent this e-mail request to departments and programs asking them to send to her one hard copy of any materials they already have on hand that are designed to help their majors.
Many departments/programs have advising manuals, guides to the major, matrices designed to help majors, department-designed grad school informational materials, etc. We are NOT seeking assessment materials; nearly every department has provided those already. We don't need CVs or syllabi, just the sorts of materials associated with the everyday functioning of your program. At this time, we do not need electronic materials. Just one hard copy will suffice.
Please send materials in campus mail to Sharon Varallo, Speech Communication by finals week.
The resource room for the Higher Learning Commission visiting team will house all of the documents referred to in the self study. We also have a plethora of supplemental materials, including great submissions from a small handful of departments. It seemed odd to us to only showcase four or five departments. We thought it very likely that most programs/departments have some materials they've designed to help majors. We are hoping to have file drawers with space for each department and program showcasing the everyday life of the department. Otherwise, the site visit team will think very highly of Art, Geography, Education and the other handful of departments who have materials to show, but they won't see the contributions made by members of all departments.
