MAJOR IN COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDERS

Coursework

To complete a departmental communication sciences and disorders major (CD), it is necessary to complete the following communication sciences and disorders courses and practicums. (33 credits)

A. Coursework required (21 credits)

CD 265 Phonetics
CD 280 Speech and Language Development
CD 367 Language Disorders
CD 368 Phonological Disorders
CD 369 Anatomy and Physiology of Speech/Hearing
CD 370 Audiology
CD 371 Speech and Hearing Science

B. Three of four courses required (9 credits)

CD 202 Communication: Components, Variations, and Disorders
CD 376 Aural Rehabilitation
CD 440 Special Topics in Communicative Disorders (may be taken two times if topics differ)
CD 490 Senior Research (Prerequisite: permission of instructor)

C. Practicums required (3 credits)

CD 304 Introductory Speech-Language Pathology Practicum/Procedures
CD 305 Intermediate Speech-Language Pathology Practicum/Procedures
CD 404 Advanced Speech-Language Pathology Practicum/Procedures

D. Optional course/practicum

CD 110 American Sign Language
CD 410 Field Experience
