Denver internship program
Fall or spring term every year
Build your résumé, experience a progressive and diverse community and hike in the mountains.
The Augustana in Denver program offers juniors and seniors of all majors the opportunity for professional and personal development. Complete a full-time internship and seminar while living in the Mile-High City. Denver is one of the fastest growing and most diverse cities in the United States. The program allows you to gain important internship experience while living and working in a major U.S. city.
During fall term (August-October) or spring term (March-May) each year, students can participate in the program. This is a partnership with Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, with the Wartburg West program.
Many Augustana graduates live and work in an urban setting. Living in an apartment in downtown Denver — provided with the program — helps prepare interns for that experience, and seeks to enable interns to be active, contributing participants in the life of the community in which they will live and work.
Dates: The timing of this program parallels Augustana's fall or spring terms. For exact start and end dates, please contact the CORE coordinators for the program.

This program is open to any Augustana student with a 2.50 GPA or higher, though, due to the nature of internship experiences, it is recommended primarily for juniors and seniors.
As there are a limited number of spaces, the internships are competitive and the college's selection process (utilizing both GPA and academic year as determinants) will be utilized if the program has too many applicants for the space available in a given year.
Recommended for: students who will be in their junior or senior year of study. It is open to all majors with limited exceptions. Major departments will be required to approve each student's participation.
Anticipated program cap: 4-8 students per term
Students earn nine 300-level internship credits on this program. Participation must be approved by an academic advisor and possibly by major department. Students will earn academic credit for the internship, and there are academic assignments to complete throughout the term. Some academic departments also grant departmental internship credit.
While in Denver, the Augustana interns are supervised by their internship site supervisor and Wartburg West co-directors, in collaboration with Augustana.
The 2017-2018 Fees are $13,780. For 2018-2019 we anticipate only a modest increase in this cost. Final pricing for 2018-2019 will be available soon.
Compared to a term on campus: Typically, the Denver program is priced approximately $3,000 below the cost of tuition, room and board at Augustana for the same term. As the program does not include transportation to/from Denver or meals, we estimate an additional $2,000 in costs for our students. This means that the total cost of the program should be $1,000 below the cost of the same trimester on campus.
For those students who opt to use Augie Choice to cover these additional charges, the program should provide a total savings of $3,000 compared to a trimester at Augustana.
Includes: Tuition, internship placement and supervision services, accommodations in shared apartments, local transportation and health insurance.
Does not include: Transportation to/from Denver, meals and discretionary spending.
Participants in this program are eligible for the same financial aid considerations (grants, scholarships, loan eligibility) as if they were on campus at Augustana.
Augie Choice: This program is Augie Choice eligible for all students who have completed six terms or 60 credits at Augustana by the departure date. Transfer students who have completed 30 credits or three terms at Augustana by the departure date are also eligible for the Augie Choice grant.
