How to get involved
Local organizations, schools and churches offer meaningful ways to make a difference. Sometimes volunteers are needed for a single event or project, and sometimes for an ongoing effort. Here are a few of them:

Get involved with an organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding lessons. Volunteer opportunities are available in horse care, stable maintenance, and special event assistance. Make an impact by registering here.
Laundry Love QC seeks to alleviate the financial burden of washing and drying clothes so individuals and families can spend their money on other necessities. It's every first Wednesday of the month at two Quad Cities' laundromats: Laundromania at 1640 W 53rd St, Davenport, and 7-11 at 4520 11th St., Rock Island. Join by emailing Brandon.
This center provides opportunities for a diverse population through a variety of programs and services. Volunteers are recruited to work in the after-school program, help with community events and recreational activities. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a mentoring organization that provides children facing adversity with a positive and encouraging role model in a one-on-one relationship. Matches participate in a variety of activities, from career exploration to exploring new places in the community, or even simply having a friend to eat lunch with. The commitment is 6-10 hours a month in the community or 2-4 hours a month in the school setting. This is a fun and rewarding experience for both the child and the volunteer!
