Latin: It's Not Just Any Old Language

 

Latin 101-102-103. 3+3+3 credits

Who takes Latin? Most are interested in the life sciences, the law, linguistics, literature, art, and history. Other excellent students have majored in mathematics, business and accounting, geography, speech pathology, English, computer science ... and even Classics. Moral of the story:  The reality is more interesting, supportive, and lively than the stereotypes.

Goals and Text: Wheelock's Latin. We chose this because its goals are well attuned to those of our students: good grounding in the liberal arts, good grounding for future effectiveness. We continue to choose it because we and our students think it works. Besides presenting Latin, it has these virtues:
