Internship Requirements

Business internship placements are coordinated by Karen M. Petersen, Director of Business Internships. Placements may be found in all facets of marketing, management, finance, management information systems and international business; specific placements vary according to individual major(s), concentration(s), and minor(s) as well as geographic preferences. Typically, students interview at a number of companies to find placements that meet their learning objectives. To apply for a business internship, follow the following steps:

  1. Meet with Karen M. Petersen, Director of Business Internships
  2. Meet these minimum qualifications:
    • attain a g.p.a. of at least 2.5
    • complete BUSN301 (Management Concepts), BUSN321 (Marketing), BUSN331 (Financial Management)
    • complete at least one upper level course within your concentration
    • obtain the approval of the Department of Business Administration
  3. Complete the application package, which includes:
    • one-page application form
    • two letters of recommendation from Augustana faculty
    • letter of application to the Internship Committee
    • current academic schedule
    • Focus II Profile
    • current résumé
    • placement ideas
  4. Contact the Career Center for advice on your résumé and cover letter
  5. Meet with Karen M. Petersen who will coordinate your internship placement
  6. Receive approval of Internship Committee Chair, Dr. Bob Haak
  7. Attend Career Center Workshops
