Internships not only help you to discover your major field of interest, but also clarify the specific job in which you would like to be employed. Internships also offer employers a preview of prospective candidates for employment. Enthusiasm and dedication in your internship not only enhances your academic progress, but also could affect your job search after graduation.
Companies which sponsor interns view them as important contributors to their missions. As an
intern, you will be assigned daily responsibilities and long-term projects, and will attend
managerial and professional meetings. Current Augustana students may view the complete
assignments for an internship. During your orientation you will be given an introduction
to the firm and informed of your responsibilities. Likewise, you should feel free to discuss
the hopes and expectations that you have of your internship.
In the eight-credit departmental internship, you must work full-time, generally from
8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. To obtain academic credit, you must
work at least 320 hours for the sponsoring company. Each intern is formally evaluated by
an on-site supervisor.
