Marketing @ Augustana Business

Marketing is a crucial business function because it focuses on satisfying the wants and needs of consumers. Marketing covers a wide range of activities including the research and identification of target markets, development of goods and services, formulation of pricing strategies, creation of promotional campaigns, and implementation of distribution methods so that consumers receive products where and when they want them. The process requires an understanding of buyer behavior within the context of cultural, social, political, legal, ethical, and economic environments.

Augustana's business administration majors who concentrate in marketing acquire the knowledge, skills, and understanding of issues significant to marketing that are necessary for success in business positions in a dynamic global economy. Students are given the opportunity to use the analytical and decision-making tools acquired in course work through class projects, the use of technology, and interpersonal communication opportunities. The marketing curriculum at Augustana consists of a course that thoroughly covers the basics of marketing with elective courses in specialized areas within marketing including marketing research, marketing strategy, new product policy, and advertising.
