companies from across the nation ranked the top six key candidate characteristics

Even in years when companies hire at rates lower than previous years, Augustana business majors successfully obtain employment in their major. For May 2002, graduates, numerous companies have interviewed on campus beginning in October 2001. Students graduating in May 2002, have accepted positions at companies such as Watson Wyatt Worldwide, Caterpillar Inc., National City Bank, First American Bank, Arthur Andersen, and TransUnion. Beyond campus interviewing, business students have interviewed for internships and full-time positions at various college career fairs in Oak Brook, IL, Bloomington, IL, Davenport, IA, and Indianapolis, IN. Companies seeking interns and college grads at those career fairs include American Express Financial Advisors, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Quad City Bank & Trust, Bank One Corporation, Allstate Insurance Corporation, Abbott Laboratories, Accenture, Experian, Expeditors International, Pella Corporation, Cintas Corporation, State Farm Insurance Company, Target Stores, Social Security Administration, Modern Woodmen of America, National City Corporation, Walgreens, Von Maur, and Katun Corporation. Augustana Career Center surveys indicate that the Augustana graduates obtain full-time employment in their major area(s) of study more often than graduates of universities. Recent Augustana business graduates are currently employed at companies such as: Newell Rubbermaid, Allstate Insurance Corporation, Midland Press Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Bank One, Chinese/English Translation Program, Hapag-Lloyd Inc., Deere & Company, Smith Bucklin & Associates, Hewitt Associates, JET Program, Target Stores, Market Facts, ACE Hardware, Kemper Funds, Marriott International, AT&T, Caterpillar Inc., United States Olympic Committee, Tribune Interactive, and Prudential Life Insurance.
