This Week's Message

Celebration of Learning + Celebration of Scholarship = Symposium Day

Dear Colleagues,

As you may know, this year's Celebration of Learning and the Celebration of Faculty Scholarship will be combined and offered on Spring Symposium Day: Wednesday, May 7th. We're excited that we will be able to devote the day to talking about ideas and about our lives as artists/performers/scholars.

We'd like this year's event to be as inclusive of all our academic disciplines as possible, so please let us know how we can make the event work well for your area. We're also interested in making the event as engaging for students as possible -- the Assessment for Improvement Committee, for example, has suggested an oral communication contest to judge the best student presentation.

At this week's Friday Conversation we will brainstorm ideas for this renewed event. Come join us - and look for more detailed information about this year's Celebration soon!

Margaret Farrar and Jeffrey Ratliff-Crain
