ProFair Spring 2014 will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 12:00 Noon - 4:00 PM on St. Ambrose University's campus in the Rogalski Center Ballroom. Employers are already signing up! Shuttle service will be provided. This is a great opportunity for Augustana students to find entry-level employment, internships and summer jobs. Please encourage students to attend.

EXCITING HAPPENINGS AT INTERNATIONAL AND OFF-CAMPUS PROGRAMS

Thanks to a new fund which reallocates unused study abroad funds back to IOP programs, we are proud to announce a new scholarship fund for students with high need who wish to participate in summer or short-term study abroad programs. These programs, which normally cannot receive any financial aid beyond Augie Choice, can wind up costing more to students than our trimesters abroad, so this new scholarship, which will offer 8 students $500 each will certainly help. Students who enroll in any of our summer or short term programs (beginning with summer 2014) will be eligible.  The Financial Assistance Office will assess student need and the study abroad committee of faculty (IOPC) will determine the winners.  We hope to grow this program each year so that more students can benefit, but beginning this summer we hope to make study abroad even more viable for those students who are most in need of financial support.
IOP would like to report that once again we have made the Institute of International Education (IIE) top 40 list for baccalaureate colleges.  This year's report covers study abroad during the 2012-2013 academic year and once more we are ranked #36 in the nation in study abroad participation. We have also risen from #19 to #14 nationally in participation in programs of 8 weeks or less (including our summer programs, short-term programs and Winter Trimester programs).  While the measure of strong international programming is not the quantity of participants but the quality of what those participants experience, I believe we all can be proud that we are providing high quality programs to more students than ever before. Whether it is a full trimester or a course enhanced by a shorter immersion experience, more of our students are being introduced to new ideas, new cultures and new ways to understand themselves and their place in the world.  This is a great tribute to the initiative, imagination and entrepreneurial spirit of Augustana's faculty as we continue to be a national leader in faculty-led study abroad, enriching our students, our campus and our curriculum with international perspectives.
