INTERNATIONAL & OFF-CAMPUS PROGRAMS
After setting a record for study abroad participation last year, another exciting year around the globe awaits Augustana students. We just sent 74 students to East Asia, and we are expected to send another record number on programs this year, including students and groups traveling to the American West, Australia, Guatemala, Amsterdam, Botswana, Sweden, Hong Kong, Russia, Berlin and Greece.
But, there is no time to waste as the campaign to advertise 2014-2015 programs will begin in earnest in the next weeks. We have another amazing lineup ready for 2014-2015, with term abroad programs each trimester, exchanges, short-term programs and a full slate of summer 2014 offerings.
The kickoff event for our enrollment period is the Augustana Study Abroad Fair. It will be held in an open-house format on Sunday, October 6 from 4:00-6:00 PM on the main level of the College Center. There will be tables representing each 2014-2015 programs and students will be able to visit as many as they like as they shop for the best program for them next year.
The Fair will be followed by three weeks of individual program information meetings all leading up to the application period: November 18th through January 10th. All programs from Summer 2014 through Spring 2015 will be accepting student applications during this period.
As you meet with students, please encourage them to attend the Fair, to explore the IOP website (www.augustana.edu/international) and to consider all the options for next year. With such a wide range of programs, there is no major, no schedule and no financial situation that should dissuade a student from considering study abroad. Our office can help any student find a program they can schedule, afford and benefit from.

We have over 80 employers and graduate schools already registered!
This is the largest ProFair in years! Please encourage students to attend.
If students don't show up...employers won't come back!
Our students and alumni will benefit from professional networking, sharpening interview skills and exploring career opportunities. This is not just for business and accounting students. Careers and internships in various disciplines as well as non-profit and government organizations will be represented. We encourage students at any point in their undergraduate education to attend. It's never too early to begin honing your professional skills. We have had students find their future employers at fairs during their sophomore year and secure internships as first years. WHAT IS ProFair?
ProFair is a premier career event presented by Augustana College and St. Ambrose University, connecting our students and recent alumni to graduate schools, prospective employers (both local and national) and internship opportunities.
WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?
As of today, we have 81 organizations attending! 21 graduate schools, 18 non-profit and government organizations, 34 corporations and 8 accounting firms are registered (list below). You can find information on their programs and the positions they are recruiting for at www.gotoprofair.org.
ProFair is a great place to explore careers, build your professional network and maybe even land an internship or job! With 21 graduate schools attending, ProFair is also a great venue to find out what graduate schools are looking for.
Looking for jobs outside of the Quad Cities? There are companies attending from the Chicagoland area and other areas outside the QCs such as Hub Group, Konecranes, Colony Brands, CBG, WalMart Logsitics and more. Also, many companies that attend are recruiting for national programs such as John Deere, Enterprise, Target, Sams Club, The Sherwin Williams Company, etc.
Don't see your dream job listed? What skills do you need to develop to attain that dream job? With nearly every type of organization represented from government entities to non-profit organizations to multinational corporations - there is literally something for everyone! Look for positions that will build your resume to make you more attractive to that dream company.
Only see a couple of companies that interest you...is it really worth your time? YES! Where else can you take 30-60 minutes and meet employers that you are interested in working for face-to-face? Go to ProFair!
Graduation/summer is so far away...can't I look for that job/internship later? NO! Many companies begin and end their recruiting in the fall. There are opportunities at fall ProFair that will not be available later - don't procrastinate. Imagine going home for fall break with your job or internship already secured!
WHAT SHOULD YOU WEAR?
Business attire is encouraged. Business casual attire is acceptable - no sweats, shorts, jeans. For more specific recommendations go to http://www.gotoprofair.org/students_advice.php.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?
Several copies of your resume in a folder or padfolio. You can print your resume on quality resume paper in the Internships & Careers Office (Sorensen Hall , 1st Floor) for FREE during office hours Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm!!!

The Internships & Careers Office is hosting Networking with Young Professionals at 12:30 on Symposium Day. Students will have the opportunity to network with recent Augie graduates and glean advice on the transition from college to career as well as tips for early career success. The format will be small conversations with 1 alum and up to 8 students. Students will rotate approximately 3 times during the one hour session. Faculty are welcome to participate as well. Lunch will be provided. RSVPs to LisaSlater@Augustana.edu are required to have an accurate lunch count.

ALLSTATE ANNUAL APEX CASE COMPETITION
Augustana has been invited by Allstate to apply to participate in their annual APEX case competition. In the competition, interdisciplinary teams of 3 - 4 students work with an Allstate professional to analyze a relevant Allstate business issue. Target students are creative thinkers, high achieving, analytically minded, competitive with strong business acumen. (Sounds like Augie students...don't you think?) Juniors are the target market, however sophomores and seniors will be considered. Most of those accepted to participate in the competition will be interviewed for a position with Allstate. If you have students that you think would be good candidates, please e-mail JohnnaAdam@Augustana.edu. That is all that we need from you! We will help them with the application process and Allstate professionals mentor the selected teams through the competition.
