This Week's Message

The Augustana community has been asked to participate in developing our next strategic plan, Augustana 2020: Our Path Forward. President Bahls envisions this plan to "focus on the experiences and learning outcomes that will distinguish our students and graduates, and prepare them for positions of relevance and leadership in tomorrow's world."

I encourage all of you to participate in the planning process. We will sponsor several open forums, focus  group sessions, and other modes of participation in the coming months. Participating in this process will require that each of us come to the table with a shared purpose, open to new ideas and a willingness to listen to others who share our passion for Augustana.

The process of developing this plan has been organized into four Task Forces. As the chair of Task Force Two, "Teaching, Learning, Student Growth and Outcomes," much of our work will focus on the core of our mission of the college. Task Force Two will coalesce into three working groups that, while collectively focusing on student learning and experiences, will each address different critical aspects of the college's efforts. Each group will focus on its unique charge while seeking ways to collaborate for maximum educational effect. The first working group will focus specifically on our Academic Mission and Priorities. The second working groupwill focus on Student Life Mission and Priorities. The final working group will focus on Retention issues.

I look forward to your participation in this shared endeavor!

Sincerely,

Pareena Lawrence
