MILAN BOTTOMS BIO-BLITZ
Milan Bottoms (a 3.500 acre flood plain forest complex along the Mississippi located at 92/280, near Jumer's Casino

You are invited to join several Augustana faculty and students exploring the wetlands, grasslands, and forests that make up the ecosystems of the Mississippi River floodplain.  The Milan Bottoms is located in southwest Rock Island and is one of the few remaining areas where the floodplains of the Mississippi River and a major tributary, in our case the Rock River, remain connected because of a lack of levee system.

The event has two goals: (1) conduct assessment of the biodiversity of the 3500-acre Milan Bottoms Preserve in SW Rock Island and surrounding green spaces, and (2) raise awareness of biodiversity/water quality/quantity related issues in the urban streams and wetlands in the Quad Cities.

Volunteer opportunities on Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1st:

Contact Brian Tugana with any questions.
