Request for Iowa N.E.W. Leadership Nominations
We are seeking nominations for outstanding female students for the N.E.W. Leadership Institute. If you would like to nominate a student or if there is a student you would encourage to apply, please contact Ryan White this week (at firstname.lastname@example.org or xt 8287) with the student's name and a brief note on why you recommend the student. Ryan will then follow up with the student(s) letting them know they have been nominated and will talk them through the application process. We traditionally have sent a number of young women each year!

Service Learning: A Must Do for Spring
As we consider the theme of social justice during the spring term, integrating service learning into one or more classes is a natural fit. Service learning can help our students understand the perspective of others who may not have had the same privileges that they have enjoyed. Wade (2007) notes (see attachment), students need to understand the "injustice [that] has created the need for service in the first place." If you are interested in adding a service component to your spring term class, please contact Ellen Hay for assistance. The attached materials may also serve as a beginning point.
