It's finally appropriate to say welcome to winter!
I'd like to announce some upcoming events that will take place this term and next that will be sponsored by ACTL. I'm announcing them all now to help you plan ahead and will be sending out reminders (and details) as the events get closer.
- Reflection - in the Classroom and over the course of the Major
Rebecca Cook, Kristin Douglas and Stephanie Fuhr of the Biology Department will be running a pair of workshops on Weds 25 January (week 8) at 3:45 in the Tredway Library (2nd floor South End) and on Tues 14 February (finals week; apologies to my colleagues teaching Calculus) at 12:00 noon in the Tredway Library (2nd floor North End)
- Diversity in the Classroom
Paul Croll, Sangeetha Rayapati and Chris Whitt of the Diversity Initiatives Committee will lead a workshop on Weds 1 February (week 9) at 3:45 in the Wilson Center
- Active Learning Techniques
Dara Wegman-Geedey of the Biology Department will run a workshop onMonday 13 February (finals week), time and location TBD.
- Overseeing Student Research Projects
Dr. Michael Eisenberg of Project Information Literacy, Dean Emeritus and Professor at the University of Washington, will be on campus Wednesday andThursday 14 & 15 March (week 2 of spring term) for workshops (Weds) and Convocation (Thu), sponsored by the Convocation Committee. (Times and locations of workshops TBD; if you or your department have special needs that Dr. Eisenberg may be able to address, please let me know).
