ACTL

Greetings from the Center for Teaching & Learning.

Training for the IDEA SRI has begun in earnest. This week we will be taking the show to the Math/CSC department. This SRI is a bit more labor-intensive at the front end; choosing the essential objectives for your course takes some thought. Amanda Baugous, Mark Salisbury and I are strongly encouraging people to start using it for at least one of your courses as early as this term. We would like everyone to have smoothed out the kinks in this process before we norm this instrument as a group next fall. We'll do what we can to help.

We will be scheduling open training in the weeks to come. If you would like to schedule training for your department, please have your department chair contact Amanda, Mark or me. Mark asks that if you are interested in using the IDEA SRI to evaluate a ten-week course this winter term that you notify him no later than Friday 17 December.

This week we will also be holding our second Scholarship of Teaching & Learning Forum on Thursday 9 Dec at 4:00 p.m. in the Dahl Room. Dan Corts and Ian Harrington will be describing their Assessment of Scientific Literacy in Psychology. If you are interested in how SoTL projects work, regardless of your level of experience, please join us!

I hope you have a productive week.
