This Week's Message

December 14, 2009

Season's Greetings! (And what a greeting we received last week!)

I hope this final newsletter of 2009 finds you full of hope for a break filled with time away, time with those you love, and time to just be. And that this finds you full of anticipation for what 2010 might have in store!

One of those events to anticipate is scheduled for Thursday, February 4, 2010.  Augustana will welcome Dr. Marion Fass, SENCER representative and professor at Beloit College, to present and dialogue with us about civic engagement in our classrooms. She brings much experience and passion for bridging the content we teach with the impact it has outside the classroom. The day will include presentations from Dr. Fass, a convocation focusing on sustainability issues, a working lunch, and breakout sessions applying to Augustana's campus.

SCHEDULE

8:30         Welcome and Introductions with Dr. Marion Fass
                (Continental breakfast included.)
10:30       Convocation:  Dr. Cal Dewitt, UW professor of environmental studies
11:30       Working Lunch with Dr. Marion Fass
1:00         Breakout Session I
1:45         Break
2:00         Breakout Session II

I look forward to diving into discussions on civic engagement and service-learning whether you find yourself a rookie or seasoned veteran on the topic. In order for us to plan for adequate resources for all participants,  and to reserve your spot, please complete the following survey (click on the link below).
