National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Stipends

Summer stipends support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to scholars and general audiences in the humanities. Summer stipends provide $6,000 to support full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two months.  Faculty members teaching full-time at colleges and universities must be nominated by their institutions to apply for a summer stipend. Once faculty members are nominated by their institutions, they may submit their applications via Grants.gov at http://www.neh.gov/grants/guidelines/stipends.html.  Those with questions are encouraged to contact the Summer Stipends staff at stipends@neh.gov.

Each college and university in the U.S. may nominate two faculty members.  Any faculty member is eligible for nomination.  If you are interested in applying for a NEH summer stipend, please contact Jeff Abernathy by September 9, 2009.  If nominated by the dean, applications must be submitted on or before the October 1, 2009 deadline.
