ACTL

Greetings from the Center for Teaching & Learning.

Week 10! Ready or not, the end is in sight!

If you weren't able to participate in the SENCER workshop with Marion Fass of Beloit College, but are interested, I've posted slides of her presentations on the ACTL moodle site. If you are interested in promoting civic engagement in any of your courses, I would also encourage you to take a look at the model courses that are available at the SENCER website.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to remind you of the pilot of a new instrument for student ratings of instruction that we hope to run this spring. Thanks to those that have stepped forward to volunteer. As I have indicated in the past, we hope to have a good distribution across the divisions, if this pilot is going to be most effective. It is also important, of course, that we have representation from a wide variety of departments from within each division. Suffice it to say that we are seriously underrepresented in certain departments! Please give some thought to helping out as we gather information about this new instrument.

Watch your email box this week for the next call for participation in the Teaching Observation Groups, and, if you are reading Willingham's book, times for the next discussion groups.

In hopes that you accomplish all your goals for your classes by the end of this week, I wish you a productive week ten!
