Wegley '88 honored by Northbrook community

Dr. Brian Wegley '88 was honored by his community of Northbrook, Ill., last week "in recognition of his outstanding support and contribution to the well-being of families."

He is superintendent at Northbook/Glenview School District 30. The Heart of the Family Award was given by North Shore's Family Service Center, a mental health agency.

Dr. Wegley graduated from Augustana in 1988 with a degree in physics and mathematics. He was a member of the college's four-time national championship football team. He received a master's in educational leadership from Aurora University in 1996 and a doctor of education from Loyola University in 2012.

During the award ceremony, Dr. Wegley's wife, Kathleen Johnson Wegley '89, showed slides   depicting his life and career. His son, Rob, spoke about his father and introduced him.

Dr. Wegley thanked everyone for the recognition. He said he is humbled by his family's love and the support of the community. He also expressed appreciation to The Family Service Center and its representatives for the counsel and help they provide to youth in need.
