My Augustana Story: Valeria Melo

Valeria Melo '18 is majoring in Biology and Public Health at Augustana College.

As a first-generation college student, Melo took advantage of every opportunity Augustana had to offer.

While at Augustana, she studied abroad on the medical service-learning trip in Nicaragua, as well as interning at Baylor College of Medicine for the Texas Medical Center Summer Research Internship Program.

Melo says, "Augustana is where I gained the confidence, support, and inspiration to pursue my dreams no matter how big."

After graduation, she is planning to attend medical school.
